NGC 6951 = NGC 6952 (LEDA 65086, MCG+11-25-002, UGC 11604) - galaxy (Seyfert 2), SBb/Sc in Cepheus

The galxy is small, but nicely situated behind the Cepheus molecular Cloud. Its distance is estimated to be 75 000 kly and the galaxy itself 85 kly in diameter. Supernova 1999el was discovered here on October 20th, 1999 by the Beijing Astronomical Observatory (BAO).

Dreyer description: Pretty bright, oval, diameter irregular eastward, 15th magnitude star close eastward.
