NGC 7380 - The Wizard Nebula: an Open Cluster NGC 7380 surrounded from Diffuse Nebula Sh2-142 and a Wolf-Rayet star and bubble in Cepheus

Discovered by Caroline Herschel in 1787.

NGC 7380 - Located only 8000 light years away, the Wizard nebula (Sh2-142), surrounds developing open star cluster NGC 7380. The active star forming region spans 100 about light years in the direction of an outer spiral arm of our galaxy. This field contains many young energetic stars that make the natal gas that surround them glow an intense pink/red. The darkest parts of this image are foreground clouds of dust thick enough to extinct the light beyond them. The rounded mauve colored spot (left of center) may be a highly energetic Wolf-Rayet star beginning to form it characteristic bubble.

North is up. The Horizontal FOV is about 30' (slight crop from original FOV). The image almost centered at:
